- AES Dominicana, part of US power generation team AES Corp (NYSE: AES), on Thursday inaugurated a 50-MW solar farm in the Dominican Republic.
Called AES Bayasol, the plant is AES Dominicana's initial 100% renewable energy project in the country, the Dominican Republic's energy compensation CNE claimed in a news release yesterday.
The power business spent around USD 60 million (EUR 49.5 m) in the Bayasol plan, which begin top of USD 1.8 billion that AES poured into the Dominican Republic in 24 years [since showing up], Juan Ignacio Rubiolo, AES Corp's head of state for Mexico, Central America as well as the Caribbean, stated in a statement.
In the following two years, AES will mount more than 300 MW of renewables and also include battery storage in the Dominican Republic, to complement the natural gas-based capacity, according to CNE's release.
