Green Power Energy Company (GPE) has formally opened up the 20MW Taungdaw Gwin solar farm in Myanmar.

Found on an 80.9-hectare site southeast of Kyaukse, Myit Thar Township, the Taungdaw Gwin project utilises a solar tracking system to maximise solar energy captured by 45,980 photovoltaic panels.

The project is expected to generate 25.1 MW of straight current or 22.9 MW of rotating current annually.

Taungdaw Gwin is the 2nd mega-scale solar project to be completed by GPE's parent company Gold Energy Company.

The project was created under a build-own-operate (BOO) model.

With the official opening of the Taungdaw Gwin project, Gold Energy's solar capacity stands at 50MW.

U Zaw Win, Managing Director of GPE, stated: "We take pride in the successful completion of the Taungdaw Gwin solar facility. We look forward to a sustainable energy source for the future of Myanmar.

" As a partner in nation-building, GPE is deeply committed to infrastructure advancement and also sustainability in Myanmar. This as well as various other renewable energy projects we are involved in will enhance the contribution of renewable resource to the national grid while progressing the nation's national electrification goals."
