MAHLE's Bionic Plate: Battery Cooling Revolutionized
Germany-based MAHLE automotive supplier has introduced a novel battery cooling plate with bionic design, elevating cooling performance by 10% while simultaneously curbing pressure loss by 20%. This allows the battery to remain within the safe temperature range, making it more efficient and able to charge faster. The new plate also uses up to 15% less material, reducing CO2 emission. MAHLE will present its cooling plate for the first time at the IAA Mobility in Munich and recently signed an MOU with ProLogium for the development of the first thermal management system tailored for ProLogium’s next-generation solid-state batteries. How Does MAHLE's Battery Cooling Plate Improve Efficiency? MAHLE’s cooling plate has a bionic design that increases cooling performance by 10% while decreasing pressure loss by 20%. The cooling plate keeps the battery within the safe temperature range, making it more efficient and allowing for faster charging. The cooling plate uses 15% less material compared to the traditional design, resulting in less CO2 emissions. MAHLE is presenting its cooling plate for the first time at the IAA Mobility in Munich and have signed an MOU with ProLogium for the development of the first thermal management system designed for ProLogium’s next-generation solid-state batteries. The innovative design of MAHLE’s cooling plate creates a more direct air-flow path, which reduces the heat transfer time between the battery modules and the coolant. The unique design also helps to reduce the size of the cooling system and therefore the overall size and weight of the battery system. The improved efficiency of MAHLE’s cooling plate will increase the range of electric vehicles and make them more efficient. The plate’s improved design also makes it compatible with more battery systems, allowing for greater flexibility in battery design. MAHLE’s cooling plate also offers better protection against temperature spikes, ensuring the battery’s overall stability and longer life.
