Pacific Blue boosts S Australian wind farm with 60-MW battery
Australian renewable power producer Pacific Blue is constructing a 60-MW battery at its wind farm in South Australia, providing 130 MWh of energy storage capacity. The project, located next to the existing Clements Gap wind farm, is estimated to cost over AUD 100 million and is expected to be operational by early 2026. The battery will support grid stability by storing excess power and discharging it during peak demand periods.The Clements Gap wind farm, with 27 turbines, has been generating electricity since 2010. Pacific Blue, owned by Chinese group SPIC, currently has 665 MW of installed renewable capacity and over 2.5 GW of renewable and energy storage projects in development. The new battery system will enhance the company's renewable energy portfolio and contribute to the transition towards cleaner energy sources in Australia.
