FranklinWH Energy Storage Inc., a US residential energy storage systems (ESS) company, has raised USD 25 million (EUR 23.1m) in Series B funds. Particle Future led the round to enhance R&D, optimize supply chain, and expand operations and sales network. Franklin Home Power integrates solar, battery, grid and generator power sources. Founded in 2019 and funded by Sequoia Capital. Gary Lam says the new capital will make renewable energy options more accessible.

Engie, a global energy company, has signed a binding agreement to acquire Broad Reach Power, a US energy storage company, to support 10GW of battery capacity globally by 2030. Completion expected by end of 2023.

Avangrid has announced their first solar project in California: the 44MW Camino Solar to be constructed by Cupertino Electric in Kern County. It will create jobs, generate local taxes, and bring clean energy to the area. Pedro Azagra, Avangrid CEO, calls it a necessary step to address climate change.

Greenvolt Power Actualize is a joint venture focusing on large-scale solar projects in North America. The JV has signed contracts with a major US utility for 97-MW DC solar projects, generating enough to power 16,000 homes. Projects operational 2025-2026. Actualize Solar Partners has 30 GW of renewable power assets.

Dominion Energy is constructing a 100-MW solar facility with a battery storage component, expected to generate enough electricity to power over 37,000 homes. The project will commence late this year, and will result in USD 200 million in economic activity and two 1-MW solar carport arrays, 18 electric transit buses, 50 electric fleet vehicles and electric vehicle charging stations.

BESS Power Corporation secures USD 15M to develop 2.4 GW of utility-scale stand-alone energy storage projects; featuring the 407.55-MW Lund Storage Center in Texas, with additional projects in Arizona, Tennessee and New Mexico. Founded in 2022.

Global new investment in renewable energy skyrocketed to $358 billion in the first six months of 2023, a 22% rise compared to the start of last year and an all-time high for any six-month period. This is based on the latest investment data from BloombergNEF’s 2H 2023 Renewable Energy Investment Tracker report, published on August 21, 2023.

Clenera LLC, a subsidiary of Israeli renewables developer Enlight Renewable Energy Ltd, announced their 105-MW DC Apex Solar project in Montana is now online. Producing enough energy to cover 13,500 households, it is the first joint project between Clenera and Enlight, financed by Bank of America, NORD/LB, and Huntington National Bank. Clenera is developing more projects in Montana.

US Commerce Department's 17-month probe is set to rule on trade practices related to Chinese-made solar equipment. Sanctions could include antidumping and countervailing duties up to 254% next June, impacting US clean energy growth and job opportunities. Ruling may also affect domestic manufacturers and treatment of silicon wafers used for solar cells and modules.

NorSun plans to build a 5GW production facility in the US and 3GW expansion in Årdal, Norway, funded in part by the EU Innovation Fund.

Maxeon Solar Technologies plans to build a 3-GW solar cell and panel factory in Albuquerque, NM, creating 1,800 jobs and increasing the company's total North American solar panel capacity to 4.8 GW. DOE loan and tax credits are eligible for the project.
