First Solar and Matrix Renewables have announced an agreement for Matrix to purchase 2.1 GW of advanced thin film modules from First Solar. These modules are scheduled to be delivered between 2024 and 2027, and they will be used to power Matrix’s projects in the United States and Spain. First Solar's technology has the lowest carbon and water footprint among commercially available PV modules and is recognized in the Electronic Product Environmental Assessment Tool (EPEAT) global registry for sustainable electronics. The firm also has plans to expand its US manufacturing capabilities and commission its first factory in India in the second half of 2023, adding 3.4 GW of new nameplate annual capacity. Furthermore, it has signed a framework agreement with Israeli solar developer Energix Renewables to supply 5 GW of modules, and a 279 MW thin film solar panel project in Alabama.
