Low Carbon's proposal for a 400-MW solar park with a 600-MW battery energy storage system in Lincolnshire has entered the pre-examination phase after being accepted by the UK Planning Inspectorate. The Beacon Fen Energy Park, located northeast of Sleaford, will undergo public review in 2025, with the examination expected to last six months. The project aims to power approximately 130,000 homes and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by up to 72,000 tonnes annually.
If approved, construction could begin in 2027. Previously, Low Carbon received a permit for the 500-MW Gate Burton Energy Park in Lincolnshire and announced plans for a similar project in Kent.
