Herzegovina-Neretva Canton grants concession for 10 solar power plants

  • The Herzegovina-Neretva Canton has approved a concession for the construction of 10 solar energy plants with a complete capacity of 40 MW to regional firm Plavo sunce.

The Government of the Herzegovina-Neretva Canton and also Plavo sunce have concluded a concession contract for the manufacturing, transmission as well as circulation of power for ten solar facilities, Indikator.ba reported.

The solar energy plants with a prepared capacity of 4 MW each are intended to be mounted in the village of Polog near Mostar. The concession is for thirty years.

Plavo sunce is registered in Čitluk in the Međugorje area. Its founders are Iva Mamić-- daughter of Zdravko Mamić, previous head of Croatian football club Dinamo, Mirjana Gagro, Ivanka Ostojić as well as Marinko Barbarić.

Iva Mamić has a majority stake in the company, virtually BAM 19 million (concerning EUR 9.8 million). The one-off concession charge for the photovoltaic power plants is BAM 172,598 KM (regarding EU 89,000).

Of note, in mid-March, the Government of the Herzegovina-Neretva Canton granted concessions for the building of three solar energy plants near the city of Mostar.

The complete mounted capacity of the Lena 1, Lena 2 and Energo MI 7 projects need to be 231 MW. All three concessions are for 30 years.

Herzegovina, the southern part of BiH, has a high number of sun hrs throughout the year. It holds several photovoltaic or pv projects.
