Edison Next to provide 7.1-MW PV system at Italian plant
- Edison Next, an unit of Italian power provider Edison SpA (BIT: EDNR) today claimed it will provide a 7.1-MWp solar system for Berco, a manufacturer of undercarriage components and also systems for tracked earthmoving machinery, which belongs to commercial conglomerate Thyssenkrupp AG (ETR: TKA).
Edison Next has signed a 20-year onsite power acquisition agreement (PPA) with Berco under which it will develop, build and also handle the photovoltaic (PV) array.
The ground-mounted system will be installed at Berco's historic Copparo site in the province of Ferrara, Emilia-Romagna. It will feature 11,600 PV modules, with a lot of them released on single-axis trackers and the remaining part on fixed structures. The system is anticipated to produce regarding 11,000 MWh annually, conference 9% of the plant's power requirements. It will certainly add to the reduction of both power prices as well as the facility's environmental footprint.
Simply over 80% of the generation will be taken in by the site, while the equilibrium can be kept or fed right into the grid, Edison Next claimed.
