  • Chipotle partners with Nexamp for a 75-MW solar project, cutting costs and powering 9,000 communities with clean energy by 2026.

Nexamp has partnered with Chipotle Mexican Grill to develop a 75-MW community solar portfolio across Illinois, New York, Maryland, and Maine. Chipotle will subscribe to 20 MW, receiving renewable energy bill credits to offset power costs, while the remaining 55 MW will benefit around 9,000 households, non-profits, and businesses.

The projects, expected to be completed by 2026, will be built, owned, and operated by Nexamp. Chipotle's long-term subscription supports the construction and operation of the solar farms, potentially saving the company up to $250,000 annually. Participating households are projected to save millions over the plants' lifespan.

How will Nexamp and Chipotle's solar partnership impact local communities and energy costs?

  • Job Creation: The construction and maintenance of the solar farms will create local jobs, boosting the economy in the communities where the projects are located.
  • Environmental Benefits: The solar farms will reduce carbon emissions, contributing to cleaner air and a healthier environment for local residents.
  • Energy Independence: By increasing the local supply of renewable energy, communities will become less reliant on fossil fuels and more resilient to energy market fluctuations.
  • Educational Opportunities: The projects may provide educational opportunities for local schools and organizations to learn about renewable energy and sustainability.
  • Community Engagement: Nexamp and Chipotle's partnership may encourage other businesses and organizations to invest in renewable energy, fostering a culture of sustainability within the community.
  • Lower Energy Costs: Households, non-profits, and businesses participating in the community solar program will benefit from reduced energy costs, freeing up resources for other needs.
  • Increased Property Values: Proximity to renewable energy projects can increase property values as communities become more attractive due to their commitment to sustainability.
  • Enhanced Grid Stability: The addition of solar energy to the local grid can enhance stability and reliability, reducing the likelihood of power outages.
  • Support for Local Non-Profits: Non-profit organizations benefiting from the solar credits can allocate more funds to their core missions, enhancing their impact on the community.
