BNDES okays loan for 68-MW solar portion of hybrid park in Brazil

  • Brazil's National Development Bank (BNDES) has authorized a BRL-189.9-million (USD 37.6 m/EUR 30.9 m) loan to support the construction of a 68-MW solar park, part of a wind-solar hybrid project in Piaui state.

The funding, which corresponds to 80% of the complete project expense of BRL 237.4 million, will certainly be provided to Sol do Piaui Geracao de Energia Ltda, had by VTRM Energia e Participacoes SA, BNDES claimed on Friday.

Located in the town of Curral Novo, the solar (PV) plant will certainly have the ability to create enough power to satisfy the need of 80,000 homes.

The wind portion of the hybrid project, the 205.8-MW Ventos do Piaui I wind facility, is already attached to the Brazilian Interconnected System (SIN).

VTRM Energia Participacoes SA is the Brazilian joint endeavor (JV) in between Votorantim Energia and also Canada Pension Plan Investment Board (CPPIB).
