The pilot factory, located in Oosterwolde, in the north district of Friesland, will be put into procedure in June, Alliander claimed on Friday.

The facility will certainly be run by the Dutch firm as well as powered with electricity from a 50-MWp solar park operated by BayWa r.e.'s local subsidiary GroenLeven near to the electrolyser. It is expected to produce about 100,000 kg of green hydrogen each year.

The green fuel from the pilot plant will be provided to regional taxi service provider Kort and also filling up station driver OrangeGas at a concealed rate.

With the project, Alliander as well as GroenLeven seek to explore how hydrogen can play a role in areas where the capacity of the electricity grid is not enough to absorb the solar power that is being created. The companions will certainly study whether hydrogen could be used as a way to avoid or protect against grid blockage and also therefore reduced the prices for the expansion of the network.
