AES Andes acquires 146-MWp solar park in Chile from EDF EN, Marubeni
- AES Andes has acquired the 146-MWp Bolero solar park from a 50/50 partnership between EDF EN Chile Holding SpA and also Marubeni Corp (TYO:8002).
Found in a 518-hectare (1,280 acres) area in the commune of Sierra Gorda, in the Atacama Desert, the solar power plant contains 2 parks-- the 60-MWp Bolero Este and also the 86-MWp Bolero Oeste, with an overall of 470,000 panels.
In commercial operation since April 2018, the Bolero solar facility can producing adequate clean power to meet the need of 181,000 local homes.
AES Andes chief executive officer Javier Dib said that the business is presently evaluating the possibility of adding a power storage system to Bolero. The business is currently developing such systems at the 180-MW Andes Solar IIb as well as the 238-MW Andes Solar IV parks.
With this new acquisition, AES Andes currently has 249 MW of functional solar plants
