CenterPoint Energy's Indiana-based electrical and gas service is seeking approval from the Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission (IURC) to acquire a 130MW solar array.

CenterPoint Energy Indiana South has participated in an agreement with Invenergy, who will build the 130MW utility-owned project in Pike County, Indiana, to acquire the project upon its completion.

This project represents the 3rd round of solar agreements introduced as part of the utility's strategy to satisfy stakeholder sustainability objectives and also implement a more cost-effective and also varied energy generation portfolio.

The agreement is subject to IURC approval.

The firm was previously approved approval to construct a solar array in Posey County currently sized at 200MW, in addition to participate in power acquisition agreements totaling more than 400MWs in Warrick, Vermillion as well as Knox Counties in Indiana.

CenterPoint Energy senior vice head of state of generation advancement Steve Greenley claimed: "By seeking to add one more universal solar project to our renewable resource portfolio, we continue to move on with our lasting generation shift strategy and also stay committed to our economic and environmental goals for the region.

" If accepted, with the enhancement of this project, will certainly be including almost 800MWs of solar generation to power our southwestern Indianacustomers."

Invenergy elderly vice head of state of eco-friendly growth Michael Kaplan claimed: "Invenergy is pleased to be collaborating with CenterPoint Energy to sustain the utility's generation change goals and also to supply its customers in Indiana with clean energy.

" Our team expects the completion of this project as well as growing our project portfolio within the state."

Building and construction of the Pike County solar project is anticipated to begin upon obtaining a decision from the IURC which is expected in very early 2023.

The project will support approximately 130 building and construction jobs throughout the building and construction period as well as is expected to be placed into solution in 2025.
