Trina Solar Powers Japan's Industrial Energy Storage

Trina Solar has landed its first industrial solar energy storage project in Japan, signing a memorandum of understanding with Narashinrinsigen Hozenkousya. The agreement solidifies Trina's entry into the industrial energy storage sector in Japan, with a commitment to supply large-scale Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) totaling 30MWh of storage capacity from 2024. Trina Storage recently released Elementa 2 which utilizes battery cells manufactured in-house, with zero battery degradation in the first year of operation. Narashinrinsigen is a longstanding partner with Trina Solar in the modules sector.

Since 2021, Trina Storage has evolved into a vertically integrated BESS solution provider, encompassing battery cells, products, and solutions. It boasts over 100 global partners, negotiating projects exceeding 10 GWh, with an additional 4 GWh under development. Trina Solar has been operating in the Japanese market since 2010 and achieved its highest-ever cumulative module shipment volume of approximately 7.5 GW last year. Todd Li, President of Trina Solar Asia Pacific, expressed his confidence that the collaboration will contribute significantly to the global energy transition. Hosoi Genmei, Representative Director President of the firm from Japan, reiterated his appreciation for Trina Solar and its products.
