Tata Power Wins 20MW Solar plus 50MWh Battery Storage Space Auction of SECI
- The project costs Rs. 3.86 billion including taxes and also duties.
- The tender was floated in December 2020.
Tata Power Solar, India's largest solar power firm, and Tata Power's wholly-owned subsidiary has gotten a "Notice of Award" (NoA) to develop 50MWp Solar PV Plant with 50MWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) project at Phyang village in Leh, Ladakh. The order value of the project is ÌNR 386 crores. The industrial procedure day for this project is established for March 2023.
This will be India's first co-located Large Scale BESS (Battery Energy Storage space System) option in addition to first Large Scale Solar PV Project in the Union Territory of Ladakh to be established at a high altitude of 3600 meters over sea level.
With the addition of this project, the order pipe of Tata Power Solar now stands at around 4GWp with approx. order value of INR. 12,414 Crores. Tata Power Solar runs a production unit in Bangalore, with a manufacturing capacity of 1,100 MW of components and also cells. It has a portfolio of more than 7GW of ground-mount utility-scale, over 600MW of roof as well as distributed generation projects as well as setup of over 50,000 pumps throughout the nation till date.
The range of work on the current project win includes layout, engineering, supply & procurement, building of Solar Photovoltaic grid connected power plant project as well as BESS on a complete basis along with ten years of procedures and maintenance solutions.
Speaking on the achievement, Dr. Praveer Sinha, Chief Executive Officer & MD, Tata Power stated, "Tata Power has always gone to the forefront of generating renewable energy combined with cutting-edge solutions. This project is a testament of payment towards establishing an innovative ecosystem for faster adoption of clean energy throughout the country."
Tata Power Solar features a successful history of executing large projects. These include 150MW Ayana at Ananthapur, 50 MW Kasargod at Kerala, 56MW Greenko, 30MWp Solar Power Plant in Lapanga, Odisha, 105MWp of Floating solar at Kayamkulam (under application). It has actually also won an auction carried out by Gujarat for 400 MW of projects to be built at Dholera solar Park.
Recently, Tata Power's subsidiary, TP Saurya has actually won 330 MW capacity at RUMSL's 500 MW Neemuch Solar Park Auction.
Earlier last month, SECI has actually issued a notice intimating its plans for a 2000MWh storage space tender. The notice points out that the final tender would be out by August 31, 2021. This seems to be the first-ever storage-only tender from the federal government agency and also follows NTPC's expression of interest telephone call earlier for an overall of 1000Mwh of energy storage space alternatives at its different power plants across India.
