  • Enel has tripled its utility-scale energy storage capacity in Texas, providing 369MW/555MWh of dispatchable energy to the grid. Enel is leading the way in energy storage, demand response and electric vehicle charging, paving the way for greater grid stability and resilience.
ENEL Delivers 369 MW of BESS to Texas Grid

ENEL has more than tripled its operational utility-scale storage capacity this summer through the addition of five new battery energy storage systems (BESS) in Texas, providing 369 MW / 555 MWh of dispatchable energy to the grid. This capacity, combined with Enel’s renewable energy portfolio as well as its demand response (DR) capacity, enables the company to provide grid-balancing services and help prevent blackouts. Enel also maintains 200 MW of DR capacity on behalf of commercial and industrial (C&I) entities in the ERCOT market, and has over 12,400 electric vehicle chargers installed throughout the state. The move towards energy storage and resiliency in Texas demonstrates the potential of the technology to stabilize grids and provide flexibility for utilities worldwide.
