ENEL has more than tripled its operational utility-scale storage capacity this summer through the addition of five new battery energy storage systems (BESS) in Texas, providing 369 MW / 555 MWh of dispatchable energy to the grid. This capacity, combined with Enel’s renewable energy portfolio as well as its demand response (DR) capacity, enables the company to provide grid-balancing services and help prevent blackouts. Enel also maintains 200 MW of DR capacity on behalf of commercial and industrial (C&I) entities in the ERCOT market, and has over 12,400 electric vehicle chargers installed throughout the state.
