Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited has been granted USD 425 million by the US International Development Finance Corporation for building a 4.3-GW solar cell and module manufacturing plant in Tamil Nadu. This project will create 2,000 jobs and module production is expected to start in 2020. India's renewable energy goals will be boosted by this facility. Silfab Solar Inc. has signed an agreement with NorSun to purchase locally-made silicon wafers for its PV module production. GCL Technology Holdings Ltd. is in advanced talks to build its first foreign plant in Saudi Arabia.
