What is Prototype?

A preliminary or first model of a device or product, intended for experimenting with the function and design. Prototype models show whether preliminary design is to be modified before building a final version of the product. Methods of the so-called rapid prototyping are used in many industries for implementing part of the full design. This is a rapid and inexpensive way for producers to experiment with those parts of the design which are most likely to be problematic. This allows solving the detected problems before constructing the complete design.
