RWE Renewables has begun procedures at a 195MW solar and also 40MW storage plant in Georgia, US.

The Hickory Park solar project includes a 195MW facility coupled with a 40MW two-hour battery storage space system, situated in Mitchell County.

RWE is operator/manager of the solar facility, selling the power and renewable attributes from the facility to Georgia Power through its Renewable Energy Development Initiative (REDI) programme.

In November 2019, RWE became part of a 30-year power acquisition arrangement (PPA) with Georgia Power, an investor-owned utility.

" Our largest solar project in the Americas is now profiting the state of Georgia, consisting of tax obligation income to neighborhood counties as well as institution districts", claimed Silvia Ortín, CEO of RWE Renewables Americas.

" We delight in to create this project as well as breakthrough solar in the state of Georgia as part of Georgia Power's REDI program."

The project attaches more than 650,000 solar panels, which with each other covers a location of about 1800 acres.

The assimilation of a DC-coupled storage space system enables the project's energy yield to be optimised as well as increase the predictability of injection of locally produced electricity right into the Georgia Power grid.
