Singapore-based Metis Energy Ltd has secured SmartestEnergy Australia as the long-term power off-taker for its 111-MWp Gunsynd Solar Farm project in Queensland, Australia. The power purchase agreement was announced by Metis' Progressive Developments Goondiwindi Pty Ltd, with the contracted power volume not specified.

The Gunsynd park, to be installed in the Goondiwindi region of Queensland, is expected to produce about 250 GWh of electricity annually, enough to cover the power demand of up to 32,000 local homes a year. With early works already underway, the plant is set to be commissioned by 2025. This project marks Metis Energy's first renewable energy investment in Australia, after acquiring Gunsynd's development rights in 2022 and reaching financial closing in March.
