  • A device of Keppel Infrastructure Holdings Pte Ltd, which is completely owned by Keppel Corp Ltd (SGX: BN4), has won a give to pilot Singapore's first membrane-based nearshore floating solar photovoltaic or pv (PV) system.

Keppel Energy Nexus Pte Ltd has received the funding from Energy Market Authority (EMA) as well as JTC. The firm will make use of the innovation created by Norwegian firm Ocean Sun AS to install a 1.5-MWp nearshore solar PV range in the seawater bordering Jurong Island.

The system will be composed of three platforms containing solar panels connected to large circular enhanced membrane layers that, consequently, are surrounded by a high-density polyethylene pipe structure. According to Ocean Sun, the system is easy to release and take advantage of enhanced efficiency due to straight water air conditioning.

The project is seen to be completed in the last quarter of 2023.
