First Solar Scores 2 GW Order from Longroad Energy

US-headquartered solar PV manufacturer, First Solar has secured an order worth 2GW for its thin-film photovoltaic (PV) modules from Longroad Energy, a US-based renewable energy developer. Longroad Energy has had a framework agreement for 3.7GW since 2017, and this new order will increase their total purchase of First Solar thin film modules to near 8GW. Michael Alvarez, Co-Founder and Chief Operating Officer of Longroad Energy, said “Longroad Energy and First Solar share a longstanding partnership that’s based on shared values and a common vision for a sustainable energy future.” Georges Antoun, Chief Commercial Officer at First Solar, added that “We are thrilled that Longroad Energy has decided to underpin its continued growth with First Solar’s technology.” First Solar is also setting up a fifth thin-film solar module factory at the Acadiana Regional Airport in Iberia Parish, Louisiana.
