Avangrid has begun building a 240-Megawatt (MW) solar farm in Texas, the company's first in the state. The facility, named True North, is projected to become operational by early 2025. The solar farm has a direct current (DC) capacity of 321 MW, and a power purchase agreement (PPA) has already been signed with US tech company Meta Platforms Inc. Avangrid describes itself as the third largest renewable energy operator in the US, with 8.6 Gigawatts (GW) of installed capacity. It recently commissioned the Pachwaywit Fields solar farm in Oregon with a DC capacity of 205 MW.
