Ameren Missouri Eyes 550 MW of Solar

Ameren Missouri has announced its intention to invest in around 550 MW of solar power generation across four sites as part of its long-term generation transformation plan. This includes acquiring the 150-MW Cass County Solar project in Illinois from Savion and the 300-MW Split Rail Solar project in Missouri from Invenergy. Furthermore, the utility intends to self-develop the 50-MW Vandalia Renewable Energy Center and the 50-MW Bowling Green Renewable Energy Center in Missouri. Together, these four solar parks will generate enough electricity to supply more than 95,000 average-sized residential homes, the company estimates. Ameren Missouri is also looking at further opportunities in surrounding states and aims to add a total of 2.8 GW of renewables by the end of the decade.
