Acciona Energia to supply renewable power to Grupo Violas in Portugal

  • Spanish renewables pure-player Acciona Energia (BME: ANE) has inked a ten-year agreement to supply 100% renewable power to subsidiaries of Portuguese organization group Grupo Violas.

Acciona Energia stated today that it will provide over 55,000 MWh of renewable power per year to team firms Solverde, Clip as well as Cotesi, to name a few. Electrical power will certainly be provided with certifications of 100% Renewable Guarantees of Origin issued by the EEGO platform of Portuguese power utility REN.

"This is one more action in the direction of our climate goals. Making use of clean power will certainly minimize our dependency on gas, while making certain competitive energy rates for the next 10 years," said Manuel Violas, President of Grupo Violas.

At present, Acciona Energia has 166 MW of renewable resource capacity in Portugal, including 16 wind ranches as well as the 46-MWp Amareleja Solar Power Plant, one of the biggest of its kind in the Iberian Peninsula.
