UAE's Khazna to power Abu Dhabi data centre with 7-MWp solar plant

  • A joint venture of renewables programmer Masdar and also French utility EDF (EPA: EDF) has actually been awarded a project to establish a 7-MWp ground-mounted solar photovoltaic (PV) plant to power a new data centre of UAE-based provider Khazna in Abu Dhabi.

A contract for the project has been signed in between Khazna as well as Emerge which was set up to concentrate on dispersed solar generation, energy performance and street lights in the UAE and also Saudi Arabia.

Under the terms, Emerge will fund, design, build and operate the solar park for 25 years.

The nuclear power plant will supply the Khazna Abu Dhabi 6 (AUH 6) data centre which is presently under construction in Masdar City and is set to open up following year. The facility is Khazna's 2nd data centre in Masdar City.

The solar park will increase Emerge's portfolio in Abu Dhabi to greater than 25 MWp. In July, business accepted install an 8.2-MW solar photovoltaic (PV) plant on the roofing systems of the SeaWorld Abu Dhabi amusement park which is being improved among UAE's most preferred islands.
