  • SPIES' Lower Saxony factory to harness 10 MW of solar power from Juwi's Gesmold park, covering 20% of electricity needs and promoting sustainability.

German packaging group SPIES is set to equip its factory in Lower Saxony with 10 MW of solar power from a new solar park being developed by Juwi Group. The Gesmold park, located in Osnabruck district, is expected to cover at least 20% of the factory's electricity consumption once operational in August. The plant will generate around 10 million kWh of electricity annually, with SPIES planning to use 70%-80% of the output for its own consumption.

The solar park, which has been under construction since March, will consist of 18,284 modules and will be connected to the factory via a direct underground power line. The remaining electricity will be fed back into the grid. Additionally, the plant will be installed on arable land, with Juwi planning to transform the surrounding area into grassland to minimize environmental impact.

How will SPIES' new solar park in Lower Saxony benefit its factory?

  • The new solar park in Lower Saxony will provide SPIES' factory with 10 MW of solar power, covering at least 20% of the factory's electricity consumption.
  • The plant is expected to generate around 10 million kWh of electricity annually, with SPIES planning to use 70%-80% of the output for its own consumption.
  • The solar park will consist of 18,284 modules and will be connected to the factory via a direct underground power line.
  • The remaining electricity will be fed back into the grid, contributing to the overall renewable energy supply in the region.
  • The plant will be installed on arable land, with Juwi planning to transform the surrounding area into grassland to minimize environmental impact.
  • By utilizing solar power from the new park, SPIES will reduce its carbon footprint and energy costs, while also contributing to the transition towards renewable energy in Lower Saxony.
