Saudi Arabia secures PPAs for near to 3 GW of fresh solar

Power acquisition contracts (PPA) for approximately 3 GW of solar photovoltaic or pv (PV) projects have been checked in Saudi Arabia, it was announced on Thursday.

The ability will certainly originate from 7 projects situated throughout the Kingdom, state news agency SPA priced estimate Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman as stating during the inauguration event of the 300-MW Sakaka solar farm. The PV park, had by a consortium led by power producer Acwa Power, is the nation's very first utility-scale renewable energy facility.

"Even more renewable energy projects will follow across the Kingdom, which we will certainly announce when the moment comes," the Crown Royal prince was cited as claiming. He included that the nation is quickly expected to see the conclusion of its 400-MW Dumat Al-Jandal wind farm.

Saudi Arabia has established a goal of making renewables make up 50% of its energy mix by 2030.
