  • Ingeteam secures €75M EIB financing to accelerate R&D in advanced renewable tech and electrification—boosting next-gen power conversion and reinforcing Europe’s clean-energy innovation push.

Ingeteam, a Spanish power conversion specialist, has signed a EUR 75 million debt financing agreement with the European Investment Bank (EIB). The loan is intended to fund research and development into advanced renewable energy technologies and electrification solutions.

The funding will support Ingeteam’s R&D efforts as it seeks to advance next-generation power conversion and related innovations. The EIB financing underscores continued European investment in clean-energy research and industrial technology development, with the company receiving the equivalent of USD 87.3 million to back the initiative.

How will EIB’s €75M loan accelerate Ingeteam’s R&D in renewables and electrification?

  • Enables longer-term, stable R&D planning for next-generation power electronics focused on higher efficiency, reliability, and grid-grade performance in renewable energy systems
  • Supports development of advanced renewable energy inverters and grid-interactive power conversion technologies for wind and solar plants
  • Accelerates research into electrification solutions such as efficient energy conversion for electrified industrial loads, charging infrastructure, and power distribution upgrades
  • Funds prototype engineering and testing cycles that help validate new hardware and control strategies under real-world operating conditions (grid codes, voltage/frequency variations, and dynamic transients)
  • Enhances capabilities in digital engineering—such as simulation, modelling, and data-driven validation—to shorten time-to-design for new renewable and electrification product platforms
  • Strengthens efforts to improve power conversion compatibility with modern grid needs, including higher penetration of renewables, stricter operational requirements, and more frequent switching/fault scenarios
  • Supports collaborations with suppliers, research partners, and pilot project stakeholders to transfer lab results into industrially scalable solutions
  • Helps scale industrialization of R&D outcomes, bridging the gap between engineering prototypes and production-ready systems for European clean-energy markets
  • Contributes to reducing the cost and improving the performance of renewable energy and electrification technologies, supporting broader deployment across Europe
  • Reinforces Ingeteam’s innovation pipeline in sustainable power technologies, improving competitiveness in rapidly evolving renewable integration and electrification markets
