  • EDF Renewables secures 20-year PPA with SCPPA for solar and battery storage project in Nevada, supporting transition to carbon-free energy future.

EDF Renewables North America has secured a 20-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with Southern California Public Power Authority (SCPPA) for 125 MW of solar power and 65 MW of battery energy storage from its Bonanza project in Nevada. The electricity will be supplied to SCPPA's participating members, Pasadena Water & Power and Azusa Light & Water, starting by December 31, 2028. This deal will contribute to SCPPA's goal of transitioning to a carbon-free energy future, adding to their current portfolio of renewable energy projects.

The Bonanza solar and battery storage project, to be built on federal land in Clark County, will consist of 300 MW of solar panels and a 195 MW battery facility. The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) has already completed the solar variance process for the project and public consultations were held last summer. If approved, construction is expected to take 12 months, with the project playing a significant role in supporting the shift towards renewable energy in the region.

How will EDF Renewables' Bonanza project support SCPPA's carbon-free energy goal?

  • The Bonanza project will provide SCPPA with 125 MW of solar power and 65 MW of battery energy storage, helping to diversify their energy sources and reduce reliance on fossil fuels.
  • By incorporating renewable energy from the Bonanza project into their portfolio, SCPPA will make progress towards their goal of achieving a carbon-free energy future.
  • The electricity generated from the Bonanza project will be supplied to SCPPA's participating members, Pasadena Water & Power and Azusa Light & Water, contributing to their efforts to transition to cleaner energy sources.
  • The construction of the Bonanza solar and battery storage project on federal land in Clark County will add 300 MW of solar panels and a 195 MW battery facility to the region's renewable energy infrastructure.
  • The completion of the Bonanza project will play a significant role in supporting the shift towards renewable energy in the region, helping to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and combat climate change.
