EDF & Canadian Solar Forge 7GW Solar Pact

EDF Renewables North America and Canadian Solar have announced a multi-year module supply agreement for 7 GW of high efficiency N-Type TOPCon solar modules. Canadian Solar will be supplying the modules which have high conversion efficiencies of up to 22.5% and low temperature coefficient of -0.30%/degrees C leading to high energy production. Canadian Solar will be investing more than US$250m in a state-of-the-art solar module factory in Mesquite, Texas. Production is expected to start in Q4 2023 and the facility will have an annual output of 5 GW, creating over 1,500 skilled jobs. EDF Renewables North America's president and chief executive Tristan Grimbert expressed his commitment to domestic sourcing as this agreement aligns with IRA guidelines. Canadian Solar is also expanding in the US and UK and has recently entered an agreement to deliver 49.5 MW/99 MWh of turnkey battery energy storage systems to Cero Generation and Enso Energy in the UK.
