Solar company Solatio Energia is planning an 11GW green hydrogen project in Brazil's Piaui state. The project will require an investment of over BRL 100 billion (USD 20.5bn/EUR 18.8bn) in the solar park and green hydrogen projects over the next five years. It will be located in the Export Processing Zone (ZPE) of the coastal municipality of Parnaiba and is expected to generate over 4,000 tonnes of hydrogen per day. The green fuel will be used to supply the local industry and also for export, especially to Europe. Solatio Energia and its unit Solatio Hidrogenio Piaui Gestao de Projetos Ltda have received a preliminary environmental license and are now licensed to carry out production and construction activities for transmission lines and a booster substation.
