Mey Energy has completed the 55 MW photovoltaic (PV) facility in Novaci, North Macedonia, making it the largest solar power plant in the Western Balkans. The facility was built on private land and spans 57 hectares with 101,000 panels. It is located near the 110 kV transmission network and the REK Bitola thermal power plant. The investment was worth EUR 40 million and it is estimated to produce 85 GWh of electricity per year, enough to power 30,000 households. The facility is part of a larger effort to phase out coal and replace it with renewable energy sources in the region. There are larger solar power plants under construction in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo*, and Albania.
