Waaree Invests $1B to Build US Solar Giant

Indian module manufacturer Waaree Energies has announced plans to set up a 3GW annual capacity solar module manufacturing facility in Houston, USA. The facility, which is due to be operational by 2024, will be further scaled up to 5GW by 2027, making it one of the largest solar module manufacturing facilities in the US. The investment of up to $1 billion is expected to create over 1,500 jobs in the US and Waaree have entered into a long-term supply agreement with US-based climate infrastructure and technology platform S.B. Energy, for the supply of multi-GWs of solar modules over the next 5 years. The facility will source most major components domestically, and Waaree are committed to developing clean energy in the US.
