Voltalia hits 2.6-GW portfolio goal ahead of schedule

  • France's Voltalia SA (EPA: VLTSA) has closed 2022 with 2.6 GW of sustainable power plants in operation as well as under construction, reaching its goal a year earlier than planned.

The Paris-based power manufacturer had 1,571 MW of renewable energy facilities generating electricity at the end of 2022 after appointing 442 MW in the past year, which was a 39% boost in annual terms. On the other hand, it started building new projects that brought its under-construction portfolio to 1,022 MW, versus 580 MW at end-2021.

The list of projects that got in the construction phase consists of the 50.6-MW Garrido cluster of small solar centers in Portugal, the 140-MW Karavasta solar park in Albania, the 148-MW Bolobedu photovoltaic (PV) farm in South Africa, as well as a 260-MW solar complex in Brazil.

Voltalia formerly unveiled a goal to have more than 5 GW of capacity in operation as well as unfinished by end-2027, along with over 8 GW of capacity in operation on behalf of customers by the very same year. The business last month secured EUR 490 million (USD 519.8 m) from a capital increase to back the 2027 target, for which it approximates financial investments will range from EUR 2.5 billion to EUR 3 billion.

In 2022, Voltalia signed long-lasting power sales contracts for 1,128 MW, against 310 MW in the previous year.
