TotalEnergies, Sonatrach Ink Renewables Pact
- TotalEnergies and Sonatrach have signed a cooperation agreement to explore solar, hydrogen and low carbon energies in Algeria. The agreement also includes a R&D programme for the energy transition, as well as increased gas production.
TotalEnergies and Sonatrach have signed a cooperation agreement to develop renewable energy projects in Algeria. The focus of the partnership will be on solar, hydrogen and low carbon energies, and the companies plan to solarise exploration and production sites for oil and gas. Additionally, they will explore the potential for renewable hydrogen for the export market, as well as launch a R&D programme for low carbon energies and the energy transition. The two companies have also agreed to increase gas production at two jointly owned fields, and boost NLG deliveries from Sonatrach to TotalEnergies. The agreement with TotalEnergies is in line with Sonatrach’s partnership with the Italian oil and gas major Eni SpA on solar projects across Algeria.
