Tata Power Builds 28 MW Solar Plant For Sanyo Steel

TPREL and Sanyo Special Steel Manufacturing India Pvt. Ltd. have signed a Power Delivery Agreement (PDA) for the construction of a 28.125 MW (AC) (i.e. 39.375 MWp DC) captive solar plant. The plant is located at Aachegaon in the Solapur district of Maharashtra and is projected to produce an annual electricity of 61.875 Million Units (MUs). This will meet the energy requirement of the steel manufacturing unit of Sanyo Special Steel Manufacturing India Pvt. Ltd. and contribute to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDG). Additionally, the project will reduce SSMI’s carbon footprint by ~42,534 tonnes annually. This follows TPREL's acquisition of a Letter of Award (LoA) for a 966-MWRTC hybrid project, which is one of the largest industrial Round-The-Clock (RTC) power purchase agreements. With this project’s capacity addition, the total renewables capacity of TPREL reaches 7,815 MW.
