Saft stated that it has actually been awarded the contract by Eiffage Energie Systemes, the energy-focused business unit of French civil engineering group Eiffage SA (EPA: FGR). Eiffage Energie Systemes is the primary professional for the 37.5-MWp Boundiali, which Saft touts as the first large-scale solar project in the West African nation.

Domestic state-owned entity Cote d'Ivoire Energies (CI-Energies) possesses the Boundiali project and will certainly run the nuclear power plant.

Saft's role in the project will certainly be to provide a fully-integrated lithium-ion energy storage system (ESS). Its option will consist of 6 Saft Intensium Max High Energy containers, supplying a total of 13.8 MWh of storage space, and also power conversion and medium voltage power plant systems.

The ESS will certainly supply capacity firming and smoothing of the Boundiali solar farm's intermittent result, Saft claimed.

The battery business anticipates to commission the system at the Boundiali site in September this year.

Cote d'Ivoire creates mostly all of its electricity in thermal power plants and hydroelectric dams. The government aims to diversify the country's energy mix by integrating even more renewables.
