European renewables developer Q Energy has announced plans to build a 74.3-MW floating solar farm in France's Haute-Marne region. The Les Ilots Blandin plant will feature 134,649 solar modules spread across six anchored islands, making it the largest floating solar farm in Europe. Construction is set to begin before the end of September, with a provisional commissioning date set for the first quarter of 2025. Q Energy is teaming up with digital services provider Solutions 30 SE, Ciel & Terre International for the floating structures and Perpetum Energy for plant maintenance. The plant is expected to meet the electricity needs of 37,000 people.
