Oman invites legal consultancy offers for 500-MW Ibri III solar project

  • The Oman Power as well as Water Procurement Company (OPWP) is seeking a counsel for the growth of the 500-MW Ibri III solar energy plant that is intended to go online in the northwest of the country by the last quarter of 2026.

State-owned OPWP, which is the single off-taker for independent power producers in the nation, has issued a request for proposals (RfP) for the stipulation of legal working as a consultant solutions and guidance on the competitive tendering of the project.

Interested celebrations are invited to purchase the documents for engagement in the tender by December 22 and submit a proposal by January 26.

The latest RfP represents one more action in the preparation for the large-scale project. Earlier this year, OPWP issued two RfPs connected to Ibri III-- one for the provision of financial consultancy solutions and an additional one seeking a technological specialist for the scheme.

The Ibri III solar farm will be integrated in the Al Dhahirah Governorate near Oman's first large-scale solar plant, the 500-MW Ibri II IPP, which was ushered in at the start of 2022.

OPWP plans to construct a number of large-scale solar plants together with wind parks throughout the country by 2027. Under the company's 7-Year Statement for the 2021-2027 duration, the northern Ad-Dakhiliyah Governorate ought to host two solar projects each of approximately 500 MW as well as one more 600-MW solar farm could be established in the Al Wusta area.
