NextEnergy Capital Lights Up Iberia with 260 MW Solar

London-based NextEnergy Capital has powered up two solar parks in Spain and Portugal with a total capacity of 260 MW. The assets are owned by NextPower III ESG, a solar fund that raised USD 896 million and was launched in 2018 and closed in 2022. The two sites, the 210-MW Santarem PV park in Portugal and a 50-MW plant in Cadiz, Spain, are expected to produce 445 GWh annually, enough to power 126,700 homes.

Both solar parks will operate under long-term power off-take agreements with Norwegian energy group Statkraft. NextEnergy Capital now has a total of 356 MW of operational assets in Iberia, with an additional 110 MW under construction. The company continues to expand its renewable energy portfolio in the region.
