MPC Energy Solutions, Akuo break ground on 26.55 MWp solar plant in Colombia

  • Sustainable energy carrier MPC Energy Solutions NV (FRA:5 IX), also known as MPCES, and also French renewables designer and driver Akuo Energy have launched the building of a 26.55-MWp solar PV park in Colombia.

The project, referred to as Planeta Rica, will certainly see the companions invest around USD 24 million (EUR 20.5 m) with a joint venture, MPCES claimed today.

MPCES and Akuo Energy are the equity enrollers in the project, while Colombian industrial bank Bancolombia SA (NYSE: CIB) offered the financial debt funding.

Planeta Rica is expected to start procedures in very early third quarter of 2022.

Its outcome, which will suffice to energise over 100,000 Colombian homes, will certainly be offered to an unnamed regional energy under a 15-year power purchase agreement (PPA).

Planeta Rica is the second PPA-backed project within the MPCES portfolio in Colombia. Previously this year, the Netherlands-based business safeguarded a PPA for its 9.5-MW Los Girasoles solar project in a private renewable resource auction led by Colombia electrical energy store Renovatio Trading Americas SAS ESP.
