Lodestone Starts 27.7-MW South Canterbury Solar Feed-In

Lodestone Energy said it has begun generating electricity from its 27.7-megawatt South Canterbury photovoltaic farm in New Zealand’s South Island, its first site there. The project, Lodestone’s fifth PV plant, was energized on schedule and within budget and is expected, once fully commissioned, to produce enough power for about 6,000 homes.
The Kohira Solar Farm is located at Clandeboye north of Temuka on leased land that will remain used for cattle and sheep grazing. Installed by Ethical Power New Zealand with subcontractor New Energy, the plant was built over 12 months with about 70 workers and connected to Alpine Energy’s network. Lodestone said it has more than 200 MW of solar capacity operating or under construction and is working on its sixth project, a 31.5-megawatt Central Hawke’s Bay park with Centralines.
