JA Solar to start 14-GW capacity development plan in China, Vietnam
- Chinese solar item manufacturer JA Solar Technology Co Ltd (SHE:002459) last week revealed an ambitious plan to add about 14 GW to its existing integrated production capacity with projects at home and in Vietnam.

The proposition asks for an investment of CNY 3.45 billion (USD 544.8 m/EUR 478.9 m), the Chinese business stated in a bourse filing.
The expansion plan imagines the building of a 10-GW manufacturing facility for photovoltaic (PV) modules as well as complementary items in the city of Yiwu, in China's Central Zhejiang province, at a price of CNY 688.4 million. The project will be executed by a newly-created firm over a 10-month period.
Additionally in China, JA Solar will certainly invest CNY 370 million to add 1.3 GW of solar battery and monocrystalline silicon wafer capacity in Ningjin, Shandong province. The capacity will be added by updating an existing facility of the company, with works expected to take 7 months.
A project envisaging the construction of a 2.5-GW wafer facility will be realised by JA Solar Vietnam Co Ltd in Vietnam's Bac Giang district. Planned to take about 12.5 months, the project will require financial investments of around CNY 1.2 billion.
The other 1.2 billion of investment will enter into a solar power generation project.
