Spanish electric utility Iberdrola SA (BME:IBE) has won a tender to build a 25-MWp floating solar plant in the Alsace region of France. The project will be installed on the basin of the Bischwiller gravel pit, near the border with Germany and Switzerland. The solar park is expected to generate 27 GWh of electricity annually, enough to cover the consumption of almost 10,000 homes.

This project is significant for Iberdrola as it will be the company's first floating solar plant in France.
