Iberdrola has announced its first photovoltaic project in Germany. The 56MWp Boldekow project in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania will include 80,000 bifacial solar modules and generate 50GWh of green electricity each year. The project is expected to create local jobs and save 20,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions a year. It will also pay over €5m in property taxes over a 30-year period. Iberdrola Germany chief executive Felipe Montero said the decision to invest in the plant was a key moment for the group and they are confident it will be followed by many more. They are also working with a long-standing partner and customer like Vodafone on this project to take another step towards the industrial energy transition in Germany.
