Hy2B Wasserstoff GmbH has begun testing a 5-MW electrolyser in Pfeffenhausen, Bavaria, with plans for regular operation by late 2024, as announced by the Bavarian Ministry of Economic Affairs. This electrolyser will utilize electricity from a nearby 10-MW solar park managed by BuergerEnergie Niederbayern eG.
Once operational, the plant is set to produce 440 tonnes of green hydrogen annually, which will be delivered to refueling stations around Munich to fuel regional buses and support a planned Hydrogen Technology Application Centre. If demand increases, the electrolyser can be expanded to a capacity of 10 MW.
