  • Gulermak Renewables taps Spain’s Elmya for EPC on a 48.5-MWp Essex solar park, delivering design, equipment supply and commissioning to boost UK clean power growth.

London-based independent power producer Gulermak Renewables has chosen Spanish renewables developer Elmya as the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contractor for a 48.5-MWp solar park in Essex, England.

The contract covers design, procurement of equipment, construction and commissioning. Once online, the facility will add renewable generation capacity to the UK grid, supporting national efforts to expand clean energy. Gulermak said the selection is a key step as it advances the project toward construction. The company noted strong UK solar growth driven by demand for low-carbon electricity and supportive renewable policies, while Elmya continues to build its EPC presence across Europe.

Why did Gulermak Renewables select Elmya to build a 48.5MW Essex solar park?

  • Demonstrated EPC capability for utility-scale solar, reducing technical and delivery risk for a 48.5MWp project
  • Proven ability to manage the full EPC scope—from design through procurement, construction and commissioning—so Gulermak can keep control of overall project execution
  • Strong track record and ongoing expansion of Elmya’s solar EPC operations across Europe, supporting confidence in repeatable processes
  • Capability to deliver to UK grid-connection and regulatory requirements for solar assets in Great Britain
  • Procurement strength for solar components and equipment, helping secure the right technologies and timelines needed for construction start and handover
  • Project delivery experience that supports a clear path from selection of an EPC partner to the start of physical works
  • Alignment of priorities around building additional low-carbon generation capacity to meet growing demand for renewable electricity in the UK
