Grupotec connects 92 MW of solar awarded in Spanish auction

Spain’s Grupotec Servicios Avanzados SA has grid-connected two solar photovoltaic (PV) parks with around 92 MW of combined capacity it secured in the Spanish government’s 2017 renewable energy auction.
It took an investment of EUR 80 million (USD 88.7m) to realise the projects, with financing support coming from lenders Banco de Sabadell (BME:SAB) and Bankia SA (BME:BKIA).
The awarded capacity is distributed between one 50-MWp solar park in Albacete province in central Spain and a 41.6-MW scheme in the desert of Almeria in the south-east of the country.
The Valencia-based solar and engineering firm highlighted it had succeeded in connecting the facilities ahead of the commissioning deadline set for January 1, 2020, imposed by the auction rules.
